The two moons of Ivalice, Talin'Kal and Loi, circle in opposite directions, thusly their phases run opposite each other - one waxing while the other wanes. It is said that the two moons govern many things on Ivalice, however Magic seems to be their biggest domain. Durring certain moon phases, it is said that certain elements have higher and lower effects.
Loi's phases govern the weakness of certain elements, while Talin'Kal governs their strength.
