Deist Caverns

Once a shining citadel poised on the footholds of the spine of the old world, Deist Castle was home to those Dragoons not based out of Baron as well as an eyrie for the famed wind drakes that could sail across the skies of Ivalice, circumnavigating it in only three days. However, a great tragedy befell the castle. Mount Aelgamord, the slope upon which it sat, sloughed off much of its mountainside during a torrential monsoon, burying nearly all of the castle beneath hundreds of feet of soil and stone. None survived save a few of the wind drakes roosting in the topmost tower. Over the years, they have declined, and now some say that they may even be extinct. Few dare to venture into the buried castle for fear of collapsing walls and the fabled creatures residing in the darkness far below. Even so, a handful of brave souls are always attracted to the hallowed grounds from time to time in the hope of uncovering a legendary spear once wielded by the last Dragoon of Deist. The Deist Caverns are found in the Underworld far to the north.
